The Warwick Valley Quilters' Guild was founded in September 1982. The purpose of our Guild is to create, stimulate, and maintain an interest in all matters pertaining to the making, collecting and preserving of quilts. Our membership has grown from approximately thirty members to one hundred and fifty. They herald from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The WVQG is a member of the National Quilters' Association, Chapter #223, Magnet. and Arts in Orange.
The Warwick Valley Quilters' Guild is a non-profit organization with 175 members from more than forty towns and cities in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. For more than twenty-five years the Guild has been active in promoting and maintaining the art of quilt making. In addition to their biennial quilt shows, the Guild offers monthly workshops and lectures, and maintains an active Outreach Program, which includes making caps for cancer patients, baby quilts for day care centers and Project Linus, Christmas stockings, caps and mittens for social services, and walker bags for more than a dozen local nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. In addition, the Warwick Valley Quilters' Guild has made quilts for domestic disaster relief programs and lap robes for veterans’ hospitals. Since 2000, with the proceeds of several raffle quilts, Warwick Valley Quilters' Guild has presented over $10,000.00 in scholarships and grants to deserving students and institutions of the textile arts.
